Abdominoplasty
What it is.
An abdominoplasty or a “tummy tuck” is a surgery that removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen. This surgery also involves repair of the weakened or separated muscles to create a smoother and firmer abdominal profile. The most common causes of excess abdominal skin and weakened abdominal muscles are:
- Aging
- Pregnancy
- Genetics
- Prior abdominal surgery
- Significant fluctuations in weight
How it works.
Abdominoplasties are performed by making a horizontal incision along the lower abdomen in order to remove excess skin and fat. Abdominal muscles are then repaired using strong, absorbable sutures. The incision is typically well hidden in the bikini line.
Important to note: results for this procedure are best achieved when a client is at a BMI of 30 or under and not planning to get pregnant again.

MINI-ABDOMINOPLASTY

What it is.
A mini-abdominoplasty is also known as a mini tummy tuck. It addresses the loose skin below the belly button only. It does not tighten around or above the belly button and it does not correct separated abdominal muscles (whereas a full abdominoplasty does). The incision is in the same location as a full tummy tuck although it is not as long. The scar hides very well under your bikini or underwear.
How it works.
Unlike a regular abdominoplasty, the mini tummy tuck looks to flatten the lower abdomen area where it is common for individuals to develop a “pooch”. This is done by making a 4 – 8 inch incision on the lower abdomen. Using this incision, Dr. Seal removes the excess skin in the lower belly area.
Many clients compare this procedure to the “average c-section scar” and if you have had a c-section in the past, the same scar is normally used.
Important to note: results for this procedure are best achieved when a client is at a healthy BMI and not planning to get pregnant again.
